Welcoming Your New Puppy: How to Get Your Home Ready

Bringing a new puppy into your home is an exciting experience, but it can also feel a bit overwhelming. You might be wondering what you need to do to ensure your new family member feels right at home. Take a look at my mini guide to help you prepare for your puppy’s arrival.

Your puppy will need supplies essential to their wellbeing which include puppy food, a food bowl or your puppy may enjoy an enrichment style bowl or slow feeder.  Some puppies even prefer a plate so make a note of what puppy prefers to eat from.  A water bowl or water fountain and plenty of breed and size appropriate natural chews and toys will help puppy with teething and engaging with you.

As puppies are social beings your puppy will enjoy resting and sleeping with you near by. Consider having your puppy sleep on your bed at night to help them feel safe, secure and bonded with you. This also aids in toilet training, as your puppy can wake you if they need to go out. If you're concerned about your puppy falling off the bed, check out this puppy sleeping loop tutorial

Preparing your home for a puppy involves gathering the right supplies and creating a safe, welcoming environment. In my Puppy Superstars and Puppy Bright Sparks courses I cover toilet training, puppy food types, puppy proofing your home, correct walking equipment, grooming and grooming supplies and much more.

With my help and proper preparation, you’ll set the stage for a happy and healthy life with your new puppy.
